Total snapshot (delta) size (GB):

Sum of all delta / sesparse files in the chain (PowerCLI SizeGB or datastore browser).

Snapshots in the chain:

Number of snapshots listed for the VM.

Oldest snapshot age (days):

From the Created timestamp of the oldest snapshot.

Base disk type:

A thin base disk grows as merged blocks are written into it.

Datastore free space (GB):

Current free space on the datastore holding the base disk.

Datastore capacity (GB, optional):

Used for the ~10% free-space rule of thumb. Leave 0 to skip.

Datastore storage tier:

Presets only fill in the throughput field below.

Effective merge throughput (MB/s):

Assumption – replace with what your datastore sustains (e.g. observed write MB/s during a previous consolidation or a storage vMotion).

VM is latency-sensitive (clustered DB, WSFC/SQL AG, Oracle RAC, real-time app)
