Ansible Playbook Boilerplate Generator
Generate starting-point Ansible playbooks for common Linux admin tasks. Each playbook runs read-only pre-checks first, makes idempotent changes, supports dry runs with --check --diff, and can wrap the change in a block / rescue that reports failures clearly.
$ Generated as a starting point. Run with –check –diff against a test host first.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere.
1. Playbook Specifications
Linux playbooks detect the OS family from gathered facts, so one playbook works on both RHEL-family and Debian-family hosts.
An inventory group or host pattern, e.g.
infra_servers or web01,web02. Letters, digits and _ . - : * ! , only.
Used by the LVM and SSH templates. The rescue section reports what failed; it does not undo storage changes.
Before you run a generated playbook
- Edit the
vars:section. Every value there is an example (volume names, sizes, user names, NTP servers, thresholds). - Run
--syntax-check, then--check --diffwith--limitset to one test host, and read the output. - Run storage and SSH changes in a maintenance window. For storage changes, confirm no backup job is running against the volume.
- Lines starting with
# DISRUPTIVE:or# CHANGES CONFIG:mark the tasks that change the host. - Reference: Ansible check mode and diff mode, community.general.lvol.
Estimates and generated commands are a starting point. Review and test before running in production.
